Rwanda Gorilla Trekking.
Add this to your to your Kenya or Tanzania itinerary
On the bamboo-and rainforest-covered slopes of the volcanoes are some of the last remaining sanctuaries of the Mountain Gorilla, which was studied in depth first by George Schaller and, more recently, by Dian Fossey.
Nothing can prepare one for the impact of encountering a fully-grown silverback gorilla, up to three times the size of an average man, yet remarkably peaceable and tolerant of human visitors.
A Gorilla visit can entail anything from a 1 to 4-hour trek through the forest, led by experienced trackers who have spent their entire lives living in or close to the forest. Your trek will be enchanting as you weave through overhanging vines, moss-covered Hagenia trees and giant Lobelias that thrive in the tropical climate. You may spot golden monkeys or see buffalo, bush duiker and a wide variety of bird life. But the high point, of course, one of the greatest wildlife experiences on earth, will be spending an hour with the gentle giant Gorillas as they go about their daily life, feeding, playing, resting, raising their young. At the end of your visit you will understand what kept conservationist Dian Fossey living in this same forest for 18 years protecting these wonderful animals.
To minimise human disturbance to the gorilla groups, visitors must maintain a distance of 7m proximity to the gorillas, the duration of each visit is limited to one hour and maximum number of visitors is 8 people per group.
Adventures don't come any better than this. This is truly a once in a lifetime experience.

Weather
There are four discernible seasons: the long rains from mid-March to mid-May; the long dry from mid-May to mid-October; the short rains from mid-October to mid-December; and the short dry from mid-December to mid-March. At medium altitudes, temperatures are consistent with little seasonal change for most of the year.
The average daytime temperature is 24°C (75°F), except in the mountainous regions where the daytime range is kept down by the altitude to between 12°C (54°F) and 15°C (59°F). Rainfall is moderate but frequent between September and June. It rains more frequently and heavily in the Northeast, where the volcanoes are blanketed by rainforest.
