Tanzania - Land of Contrasts

About Arusha

Arusha City is located at the foot of Mount Meru with a temperate climate throughout the year. German colonialists established it in 1900, as a garrison. Arusha is the tourist's gateway to Tanzania's major national parks and game reserves on the northern circuit, such as Arusha National parks, Lake Manyara National Park, Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Conservation Area and Mount Kilimanjaro. The city is located near the border with Kenya, being only one-and-half hour away by car from the border. Arusha is well served by Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA). and by its own Arusha Domestic Airport.

Arusha Serena Mountain Lodge

Serena Mountain Lodge. Located in the depths of a tree-shaded coffee plantation, Mountain Village offers a haven of calm and serenity just outside the hustle and bustle of Arusha, Tanzania's premier 'Safari Town'.
The stone-built rooms are housed in a half-moon of traditional dwellings with views over a bougainvillaea-cloaked slope descending to the lake's shores. Each
'neatly thatched rondavel', and lined with close-weave basketwork, has been arranged to cluster in a village-style grouping around central flowered courtyard. Charmingly appointed with spacious bathrooms, individual verandas and curved French windows giving views onto the tranquil lakeside beauty, the rooms have been decorated in the traditional safari style and feature net-draped beds, soft lamps, intricately carved furniture and patterned drapes.

About Dar es Salaam

Dar es Salaam is the largest city and the political and economic capital of Tanzania. Located in a quiet bay off the Indian
Ocean coast, the city has grown in economic importance to become a prosperous centre of the entire East African region.
Its bustling harbour is the main port in Tanzania. Government offices all have their main base in Dar es Salaam.
During German occupation in the early 20th century, Dar es Salaam was the centre of colonial administration and the main contact point between the agricultural mainland and the world of trade and commerce in the Indian Ocean and the Swahili Coast. Remnants of colonial presence, both German and British can still be seen in its landmarks and architecture.
